From Rio Branco (Acre), Filomedusa emerged in 2006 playing original rock shaped by the Amazon. The name comes from Phyllomedusa bicolor, a frog used in the ancestral kambô ritual, which carries stories of healing and energy.
The Amazon is not only in the name. With sharp guitars, pulsing drums and provocative lyrics, the band blends Amazonian sounds, MPB and alternative rock, creating an atmosphere that carries the territory without being confined by it.
It is worth pressing play on the self-titled album “Filomedusa” (2020) and on their two latest singles, “Filomedusa” (2026) and “Sangue e Seiva” (2025), which help reveal the forest’s influence on the sound of the group, made up of Carol Freitas (vocals), Saulo Machado (guitar), Daniel Zen (bass) and Tiago Melo (drums).
Having played major festivals on the alternative circuit, such as Varadouro, Se Rasgum and São Paulo’s Virada Cultural, Filomedusa comes to Quebramar 2026 to show the power of independent rock made in the Amazon.
